On July 1, 2015, the Ontario Government proclaimed the Naturopathy Act, 2007.
The Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors has provided this OAND press release yesterday to explain what this means to you and me.
What does proclamation mean to me as an ND?
- I am now part of a self-regulated health care profession
- We have moved regulation from the Drugless Practitioner’s Act (DPA) to the Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA)
- My scope of practice has been maintained and increased to provide laboratory access to Ontarians
- I have qualified for Prescribing Rights, and I will be able to maintain the use of vitamin injections, vitamin infusions, and start prescribing thyroid and bio-identical hormones, among other high dose vitamins.
What does proclamation mean to you?
- Naturopathic Doctors can provide greater access to primary healthcare in Ontario
- Your medical team can now work together more effortlessly
- The College of Naturopaths of Ontario supports the public’s right to safe, competent, and ethical naturopathic care. They set standards, administer quality assurance programs, and ensure Naturopathic Doctors are current in their continuing education.
- Public interest is number one for The College of Naturopaths of Ontario
Please check with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario if you have any questions regarding naturopathic care and what it means to you.
